How The Tri-borough Music Hub Works With Schools

To keep things straightforward for schools, we split our work with schools into two categories:

  1. Free services for every school. The free services are open to any state-maintained school and range from free groove'n'play whole-class teaching resources, access to the Virtual Music School, curriculum guidance documents, network meetings, performance events and wider partnership opportunities

  2. Charged-for traded services. These include instrumental / vocal teaching in small groups and whole classes, ensembles, some CPD and performance events and consultancy work

    # Standard Rate £43 per hour: for individual, paired, small group teaching, or whole-class support teacher work. This is an *increase of £2 ph (4.8%) from the 2023-24 SLA.

    # Lead Rate £45 per hour: for leading whole class instrumental teaching and / or ensemble leadership. This is an *increase of £2 ph (4.6%) from the 2023-24 SLA.

*The new school charges reflect increasing running costs and covers the payment to tutors to deliver teaching and partially subsidises the running costs for tutor training, discounted instrument hire, instrument stock maintenance and renewal, quality assurance, running centrally organised exam centres, safer recruitment including safeguarding training, administration and general running costs.

Whole Class Instrumental Learning - FREE T&L Resources

Every school can access a FREE whole class annual online licence for ONE Groove’n’Play programme – for school’s own delivery, plus free CPD for one teacher (worth £85).  The licence gives access to GnP’s groove@school digital resources which includes animated delivery content, teachers’ e-book, session plans, and supporting documents (planning and progression, GnP in relation to National Curriculum for Music, and GnP in relation to New National Plan for Music).

About the hub.

The Tri-borough Music Hub is a centralised Local Authority service which receives core funding from Arts Council England. It is the lead organisation that oversees the delivery of music education in three West London boroughs: the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea; the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham; and City of Westminster. We work with schools, children and young people and the music workforce.
