Parents

Calling all parents

Is your child mad about music? Could they be?

If so, at what age should they start learning to sing, play an instrument or join a band? What’s out there for them in your local area and how might you support them?

Learn Music London is a collaboration between international music examination board ABRSM and national membership organisation Music Mark, and is backed by the GLA. The Learn Music London website signposts parents to their local music service based on where they live and highlights the opportunities available. The website also features videos of young musicians and their parents talking about the many benefits of music-making, including making friends, improving self-confidence and learning from mistakes.

By selecting their borough on the website, parents are taken directly to their local music service to begin a conversation about how their child can start their musical journey, or take their music to the next level.

Visit Learn Music London now to get started!

You may wish to have a look at our out-of-school music lessons for children and young people or our suggested progression routes for your child's musical journey.

A list of suggested songs for auditioning for our Young Singers choir can be downloaded here.

About the hub.

The Tri-borough Music Hub is a centralised Local Authority service which receives core funding from Arts Council England. It is the lead organisation that oversees the delivery of music education in three West London boroughs: the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea; the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham; and City of Westminster. We work with schools, children and young people and the music workforce.
