How The Tri-borough Music Hub Works With Schools
To keep things straightforward for schools, we split our work with schools into two categories:
Free services for every school. The free services are open to any state-maintained school and range from free groove'n'play whole-class teaching resources, access to the Virtual Music School, curriculum guidance documents, network meetings, performance events and wider partnership opportunities
Charged-for traded services. These include instrumental / vocal teaching in small groups and whole classes, ensembles, some CPD and performance events and consultancy work
# Standard Rate £44 per hour: for individual, paired, small group teaching, or whole-class support teacher work. This is an *increase of £1 ph (2.3%) from the 2024-25 SLA.
# Lead Rate £46 per hour: for leading whole class instrumental teaching and / or ensemble leadership. This is an *increase of £1 ph (2.2%) from the 2024-25 SLA.
*The new school charges reflect increasing running costs and covers the payment to tutors to deliver teaching and partially subsidises the running costs for tutor training, discounted instrument hire, instrument stock maintenance and renewal, quality assurance, running centrally organised exam centres, safer recruitment including safeguarding training, administration and general running costs.

Alternative Provision Music Education Pilot:
We’ve been working closely with The O2 who are passionate about empowerment through music and creating a music education programme. In Spring 2025, we delivered a successful pilot programme in our four Alternative Provision settings and continue to work with the team at The O2 to expand the programme. Thank you to Gawain Hewitt for leading the programme, Natasha Poland for creating the animation, and all the APs involved. The Final report can be found HERE.
If you would like to make any in-year SLA requests or to claim your free GnP programme, please email musichub@rbkc.gov.uk
“We really would not be providing our kids with such an enriched and enriching curriculum and meaningful supporting experiences if it wasn't for all your hard work and effort, and I appreciate it so much, thank you.” Music Teacher, School, LBHF
"The TBMH offers an outstanding range of services to schools and teachers - from training and network meetings to free choral and instrumental events in exciting venues. All this, along with their Groove'n'Play whole-class instrumental programme, enriches our school life. Every school should be lining up to be involved". Music Teacher, School. RBKC
