Summary of course content
This course will explore how to plan both an adult-led music session for babies and toddlers (both with and without parents) and planning for music making within the environment of an Early Years setting. The course will begin with a music session which will then be discussed, offering an opportunity for participants to share thoughts, ask questions and reflect. The session will explore the environments in which music making takes place. What does a ‘Music Area’ look like? Does the environment always have to be ‘fixed’ or can it be a moveable feast? Observations are crucial for planning sessions. The session will explore what a child’s musical day looks like in an often ‘bustling’ Early Years setting. How do we observe children, what is it that we are observing and how we can use our observations to inform our planning for music making?
The course will be delivered by Trish Power who works with Sound Connections, a partner of the TBEYMC.
